What are terrains?
Terrains are the successors to 3D parcel maps and now offer a direct way to upload your own 3D underlays that you can use in BIM Publisher
and Home Configurator
projects.
How do I create a terrain?
You can upload a terrain in the following formats:
OBJ
with.MTL
and associated textures.GLB
with textures already embedded within the file itself.
In both cases, it is possible to change textures by dragging and dropping textures onto the object itself.
Available terrains for your BIM Publisher and Home Configurator projects can be found in the Content Browser of the project.
Materials for terrains are global. This means, for example, that a material called ‘Grass’ that appears on ‘Model A’, ‘Model B’, ‘Model C’, etc. is shared between the terrain models. This is generally easier to use, but it may happen that specific project materials are used in a terrain. In that case, it is best to change the name of a material in a model, for example: ‘grass_projectA’. This effectively makes the material ‘unique’.
Points to note
- Only one terrain can be active within a plan or project.
- Also consider optimizing the model in terms of performance and loading times.
