What are Innobrix Parameters?
Innobrix parameters refer to the 3 (formerly 4) parameters that are injected into the Revit document when the Prepare Document
button of the Innobrix add-in is activated.
The 4 parameters are:
- Innobrix: Type(s)
- Innobrix: Column
- Innobrix: Row
- Innobrix: Floor (legacy)
Since the release of version 2.0.0 of the Innobrix Add-in for Revit, this parameter is considered deprecated. Existing models that still use this parameter still remain functional, but in a future release this parameter will no longer be supported.
Although a 5th parameter exists, this is a read-only
parameter that is normally invisible and only used during the import
of the model. It concerns the is Situation
parameter.
The parameters are of type Shared
and are all Instance
based. Once the parameters are injected into the document
you can find these parameters on all the Model Groups
present within your document.
Take care when purging
a document when no Innobrix parameters have been entered (yet). It may happen that during this process the Innobrix
parameters are removed, causing the add-in to no longer function correctly. Should this happen, you will have to manually
have to add them again. From version 2.0.0 of the Innobrix add-in for Revit onwards, you can always use the Prepare Document
button for this to re-inject missing
parameters again.
Which parameters should I use?
The starting point that may be used depends on the project type chosen. For a project of the BIM Publisher
type, no more
parameters are required and you can make a direct export via Export without options
. For the Home configurator
and Plan configurator
(optional), the
the Innobrix parameters are used. In cases where you therefore work with dynamic options, you will have to provide the Model Groups
that make up a model (with any options)
should be provided with content parameter completion.
The parameters are used within Innobrix to be able to put away the Model Groups
in a so-called Gridfield
, at a specific location or position.
This location is determined on the basis of the filled-in parameters.
The Gridfield
is basically only applicable when the model uses option groups.
Columns & Rows
The parameters Innobrix: Column
and Innobrix: Row
only start playing a substantive role once you start working with options.
As soon as you export a model with options from Revit, you can find these groups back in the bag field. You can find the bag field by going to the
Configurable-Editor clicking on the icon and then clicking on Expanded.
You can then read the parameters applied to each group at the top left in the model group when the gridfield form is active.
You can read the Model Group
name at the bottom left of each group.
Innobrix: Column
This parameter is best described as a category. It is possible to link labels to columns. This makes it easier to keep track of your bag field as it grows in size and scope.
It is advisable in advance to already choose a certain layout of your Innobrix: Column
.
- Column: 0 => Front facades
- Column: 1 => Back facades
- Column: 2 => Side elevation (left)
- Column: 3 => Side elevation (Right)
- Column: 4 => Layouts (BG)
The above is an example filling. For example, it is perfectly possible to merge column 2 and column 3 into just column 2 => Side facades where all possible side facades of the model are incorporated in multiple rows. Whether it is desirable to merge them into a single column is a second matter.
A good guideline is: the more variation in a category (side facades, front facades, rear facades, layouts) the more desirable it is to allocate them in a own column.
Innobrix: Row
This parameter refers back to an option within a column. Innobrix: Row
with a fill of 0 usually indicates the default group.
Within the bag field, a default group is displayed as
Illegal Parameters
Problems can arise when Innobrix parameters are incorrectly interpreted. Below are some known problem cases.
- Filling in letters instead of numbers in the
Innobrix: Column
andInnobrix: Row
field. - Negative values (-1, -2 etc.) in the
Innobrix: Column
andInnobrix: Row
field. - 2 separate Model Groups containing exactly the same parameters. (This is where the Innobrix add-in from version 2.0.0 will also show an error message about this).
